Hello Parents and Guardians,
The Bethel-Tate Music Department is excited to announce a new performance ensemble. This year we will be starting a winter percussion ensemble that will rehearse twice a week starting in the middle of January until the performance on Tuesday, February 27th at the high school. This concert will be in conjunction with the High School Band and Choir Concert. This ensemble is open to students from 7th to 12th grade who are members of the band and choir programs.
In order to have the supplies needed to accommodate a larger number of players, student who are participating in this ensemble will be required to purchase a complete percussion bag that includes snare drum sticks, hard plastic mallets, and yarn mallets.
The best place to purchase this equipment is from SteveWeissMusic.com: https://www.steveweissmusic.com/product/elementary-stick-pack/stick-mallet-pack
Total cost of package is $29.95 + Tax and Shipping. Shipping takes around 2 days.
This link is also available on the Bethel-Tate Band Website under Winter Percussion.
The percussion kit is a requirement to participate in the ensemble.
Students involved in this ensemble will receive extended instruction on reading music along with fundamental skills of playing a wide range of percussion instruments from marching snare drum all the way to concert Mallet playing.
Along with musical skills, ensembles like this teach students about life skills such as self discipline, determination, as well as maintaining commitments that they have made. In order to do this, though, we ask that students that commit to this ensemble all rehearsals and the concert are required. If a student misses more than 1 rehearsal they will be removed from the ensemble.
2019 Dates TBA
All Rehearsals will be held at the high school in the band room. An activity bus to transport middle school students to the high school will be provided.
