Marching Band

Absence Request form:

Attendance policy from the Bethel-Tate Band Handbook

Since the Band functions as a single unit and not a group of individuals, Band performances are diminished by even a single absence. Hence, you are required to be at all band rehearsals and performances. It is the member's responsibility to notify the Director a week in advance with a note, email or phone call from the parent or guardian. Each request will be evaluated individually.

We do our best to provide a full Fall schedules at the start of the season. Even with the most tedious planning there will be periodic updates. Time management is an important part of the band experience. Any unexcused absence from a performance will result in immediate dismissal from the program with no refund of fees. It is up to the discretion of the Band Director as to the acceptability of the excuse. Some unacceptable absence reasons are college visitations (which should be scheduled around rehearsal and performance schedules), public music concerts of any kind, college games, sports, banquets, and parties.

Any individual with an unexcused absence from rehearsals will attend the next performance in full dress uniform. However, he/she may not be permitted to participate in warm-ups and will stand at attention during the performance on the sideline. This rule is strictly to ensure the safety of your child and the safety of other students on the field. This will be considered on a case by case basis by the Band Director.

Marching Band Remind 101

The Bethel-Tate Marching Band enjoys a rich tradition of musical excellence through out the Bethel and greater Cincinnati area. Each year, students ages 13 to 18 provide the framework for this performing group that consistently receives top honors in regional, state contests, and exhibitions. The marching band is under the direction of Mr. Samuel Blair.

The band performs locally for school events including home football games, pep rallies, basketball games, and other post-season athletic events, and is the featured marching band in the community for activities such as the New Richmond's Veterans Day Parade and Down Home Christmas Parade. The Marching Band's exciting, but rigorous, schedule begins in the summer with Band Camp and lasts through most of the fall semester, as the band rehearses diligently to prepare and perfect the year's Marching Show. The band attends band festivals across the state to share its exciting and contemporary pop shows with their audiences.
